Introduction
The aim of this report is to present Gimnazija Jesenice open door days. It is based on my personal experience during those two days while being one of the hosts. This report is intended to help future students who might have trouble in choosing their future high school.
Open door day at Gimnazija Jesenice
On February 14th 2020, the most promising eight and nine-graders visited Gimnazija Jesenice. There were awaited students, who presented our school with great pleasure. Some potential freshmen took a photo with a portrait of our school‘s Instagram logo. The official ceremony began with a motivational speech of our headteacher. The hall was almost full. The presentaion continued with many more speeches and there were plenty of advice from former students, who do not regret it enrolling into Gimnazija Jesenice. After the end of ceremony, future students were having a given tour with students around the school.
Representing Gimnazija Jesenice
Future students were suprised in the dining room where our chef were serving delicious, freshly baked croissants. Presentations about certain special subjects which we have it, were all over the school. My group was taken into the math classroom, one of the harshest subjects here. This open day lasted into the next day with fewer people. At the end teachers waited in the E-classroom where future and current students were served with tea and desserts.
Conclusion
In my opinion, it would be advisable to change the system of having a tour with freshmen and we should put more effort in advertising through local media. We could also try to be more energetic and friendly to those who come to visit us.
