Introduction
This report will present the school trip to Istanbul, organized by Jesenice Grammar school. It will describe the purpose of the tour, organization and the activities on the trip. It is written by a student of Jesenice Grammar school.
The purpose and the expenses
The city of Istanbul was chosen due to its historical importance, to learn about the city and to give students a chance to spend some quality time together. Total cost was 450 euros. The price included transportation costs, accommodation and admission to the sights.
Organization
The journey began in Jesenice, on Friday 11th of October. The group travelled by bus to Zagreb airport and from there by plane to Istanbul “Havalimani” airport. The flight was two hours long. Four days were spent in the city. Accommodation was organized in a youth hostel, with breakfast included. Other meals were provided by students themselves. Students were accompanied by five teachers and a tourist guide.
Plans of activities
The group visited Hagia Sofia, the great mosque, which is one of the religious centers of the Byzantine world. A great impression was left by Basilica Cistern, the site where the movie “Inferno” was filmed. Other sights were also included in the tour and some time was left for personal activities, such as shopping and enjoying in varieties of food.
Impressions
In my opinion, Istanbul is a beautiful city. I think it is great that our school offered us this possibility. I find it unbelievable that I can see with my own eyes the historical sights about which I learn at school. The new experience, gained at the trip, inspires me to visit new destinations.
